In The Fold

This demountable structure in red deal, slate and powder coated aluminium was designed to display a showcase of Irish fashion design talent for the 4th International Fashion Showcase hosted by the British Fashion Council during London Fashion Week February 2015.

We conceived the structure as a pavilion (open structure) in an internal garden (slate chip bed). The timber exoskeleton in 4 elements loosely based on a nest of tables describes a route to allow each piece its own space and time. The barely off white inside aluminium finish and led lights incorporated in the structure render each piece so the textural pattern of the exterior is counterbalanced by the smooth notes of the interior and the detail of each piece of fashion deign can be calmly observed.

The layering the structures and lighting allowed each piece to be seen and lit from different angles, creating shadow-play where required but also encourage a single piece to be observed form different angles and distances.

The Fashion Designers exhibited were; Caoimhe Mac Neice, Jocelyn Murray Boyne, Laura Kinsella, Michael Stewart, Naoise Farrell, Oliver Duncan Doherty, Richard Malone and Rory Parnell-Mooney.

The exhibtion was Curated by Gemma A. Williams with the direction of Aisling Farinella Textile Advisor to ID2015, for the 4th International Fashion Showcase hosted by the British Fashion Council, in Brewer St Carpark in Soho.

Video directed and edited by Stephen Walsh.
